Antibiotics and Superbugs
Mark A. Schauss
President, CellMate Wellness SystemsTMWestern civilization has a bit of an ego problem regarding its ability to handle so-called "third world" diseases. We've applauded the ability to fight off diseases like polio, malaria, small pox, diphtheria, cholera, and other varied parasitic, bacterial, and viral diseases. The media may have played up our successes, but the medical research world is not so confident and is now admitting that they may have created diseases far worse than the ones mentioned.
Antibiotics, antiviral agents, insecticide use, and other "attack" elements have been tried, and in many cases with great success, in the short-term. But, whenever you build a better mousetrap, the mouse gets smarter. We've forced these crafty microbes to mutate into drug-resistant superpowers with little thought to strengthening the defense structure of the human body, the immune system. According to Laurie Garrett, in an excellent, must read book, "The Coming Plague," the present method of treatment is not only woefully inadequate, but has put the human race in grave danger. As is typical in modern, traditional medical circles, the blame is put on the microbe for daring to mutate, not on the near-sightedness of the drug first, ask questions later mentality. Dr. Garrett has a number of illuminating statements to make but failed to see the potential of these statements. The most important was the following: "Among the cells of the human body most dependent upon a steady source of nutrients are those of the immune system "
To think that the U.S. is immune to outbreaks of diseases only thought to occur elsewhere is to bury ones head in the sand. We have seen outbreaks of E. coli, Cryptosporidium, and Giardia in our water and food sources the past few years. This is not a set of possibilities we should dismiss because "it can't happen here." People travel to foreign countries where the food handling procedures may not be as good as we are used to. Brucellosis, Shistomiasis, and other parasitic and bacterial diseases may be on their way. How can we protect ourselves and our patients from this potential problem? By discovering the biochemistry that would predispose a person's immune system to come under attack and succumb, we can prevent or help the patient fight off these invaders. This is where the CellMate Wellness SystemsTM Blood Test Report helps, especially the Clinical Correlations section. To find out how this works, call our offices and ask for our report on the uses of the Clinical Correlations page.
